Once, during the festive meal of the last day of Pesach in the home of the Previous Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, there was a shortage of whole matzos (shleimos).
When those sitting by the table scurried to find whole matzos, the Rebbe remarked, “In truth, the real perfection (shleimos) is found in the broken ones!”
(Sefer HaSichos, 5702, Pg. 109)
As the saying goes “there is nothing more full than a broken heart.” When a person feels “full” and “perfect” that is a sign of the greatest flaw. However, when a person has humility and a sense of brokenness, it is only there that there can be real perfection.
