When Rabbi Dovber, the Magid of Mezritch was on his deathbed, he turned to his two prized students, Rabbi Yehuda Leib HaKohen and Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi and his son Avraham and said:
“My sons, when you are together, you will be able to overcome all obstacles. You will continuously go forward and never backwards. This is hinted at the verse in Iyov[1] ‘But He is One, and who will respond to Him?’ (The word for ‘respond’ is yashivenu, which means to return back. This expresses that when there is unity among people, they continuously are able to forge forward without turning back.)
