Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, the first Chabad Rebbe, would himself serve as the reader of the Megilah of Esther in his synagogue, on the holiday of Purim.
After he passed away, his son Rabbi DovBer heard the Megilah for the first time from someone other than his father.
After the reading was completed, Rabbi DovBer exclaimed that it was “a beautiful story.”
When questioned on his words, being that surely he had heard the story many times before, he responded: “When my father read, it was an entirely different story.”
