Once, the 4th Chabad Rebbe, Rabbi Shmuel of Lubavitch, remarked:[1]
“When on Rosh HaShana a Jew sighs or cries on his sorry physical position, whether concerning health of livelihood—this is ‘Teshuva I’la-ah.’”
Though externally it seems that the individual is obsessing over his physical state, in truth, at the heart of the matter, a Jew prays for health and sustenance so he can properly serve the Almighty and fulfill his mission in life.
