The first Chabad Rebbe, Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, wrote:[1]
One should invest their mind into the study of Torah and not excessively into one’s livelihood.
It is for this reason that we observe many people who are not particularly bright are successful in business. For, because he is not particularly scheming in business he is successful.
However, one sees many people that are exceptionally smart, yet fail dismally in business.
