Something to think about:[1]
The Alter Rebbe extolled his chassidim that they should have unbounding love to G-d. He solicited this, not only from his disciples who were great in Torah and prayed at length, but from the simple peddler as well.
He wished that during the time when they walk from town to town with their wares on their back, they should contemplate this great love.
The essence of this love is to forget about the self, and be as Tanya (Ch. 41) like a child that is completely focused on his parents and puts himself aside.
