Once, when the Mittler Rebbe encouraged R. Yitzchak Isaac of Homel to mentor the younger chassidim, he responded, “I am barely able to work on myself, how can I mentor others?” “Learn from me,” rejoined the Mittler Rebbe. “When I see that all is lost, I try to at least help my fellow Jew.”
