A chossid once boasted of the manner in which he serves G-d, to the 4th Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Shmuel of Lubavitch:
“I learn Chassidus prior to prayer, I contemplate on chassidic concepts during prayer and following the prayers. Even during the nightly recitation of the Shema, I also contemplate Chassidus.”
The Rebbe responded:
“You are always thinking about G-d, but when do you think about yourself?”
While thinking about G-d is of utmost importance, we must not forget that G-d wants us to change ourselves as well. When we forget about where we are truly holding in our service of G-d, we can end up delusional about who we are and become completely conceited by what we think we have accomplished.
