The fifth Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Sholom Dovber of Lubavitch was wont to say:
One must now how to relate a Chassidic tale—so that the tale should take on life. More importantly one must know how to listen to a story. Listening to the story must create a complete image in the mind of the listener, in order that he should feel as if he is living the event.
