Purchasing the Land of Israel

Rabbi Simcha Bunim of Pshischa once remarked: “I am surprised that Moses Montefiore does not purchase the Land of Israel from the Turks.” When asked what the point would be, as Moshiach has not yet arrived, he responded: “If the Land of Israel will be redeemed from the Arabs and will be in Jewish hands, the redemption will immediately arrive.”
