The Sukka and Anger

The 4th Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Shmuel of Lubavitch, had an assistant named Yosef Mordechai—who also served his father, the Tzemach Tzedek.[1]

Once, this Yosef Mordechai, having become agitated in the kitchen, angrily entered the sukka before he had had a chance to calm down.

The Rebbe Maharash remarked: “Indeed, Yosef Mordechai you are special, but you must have respect for the s’chach—and the s’chach does not appreciate anger.
