The Chassidim of Liozna would explain the Talmudic dictum (Tanit 2a) “What is Service of Heart? You must say, Prayer,” as follows:[1]
Prayer is the service of the heart—with the heart and in the heart. These Chassidim were both intellectuals in addition to their focus on prayer. Yet, they knew that the intent of intellect is the work with the heart.
While the study of chassidut it of utmost importance, we must not forget that we must focus on prayer as well.
