Once, when the holy chassid, Rabbi Hillel of Paritch, was in Lubavitch to visit his Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Lubavitch, to speak to him about a communal matter.[1]
Though it was late at night, when they had concluded the conversation, Reb Hillel requested that the Rebbe recite a Chassidic discourse. However, the Rebbe did not respond either way, but instead went into his room.
In the morning, when the Rebbe exited his room he found Reb Hillel sitting outside the room.
When the Rebbe asked him what he was doing there, he asked him what he was doing there. Reb Hillel responded “The Rebbe did not say he wouldn’t say Chassidus,” so I am therefore waiting.
The Rebbe rejoined: “You are very dedicated,” he brought him into his room and recited a Chassidic discourse.
